Worker Type - Sales Reps
- Sales representatives come in two distinct
flavors:
- 1.) A sales rep may be a person with a sales and
marketing background, but not in our business. Working somewhat like an intern
on the programming side, we teach such a sales rep how our business
works.
- 2.) Coming with an established sales and marketing
organization, an experienced sales rep sees our products and services as
complementing their organization's offerings. Such sales reps often represent a
collection of best-of-breed specialists like us that they can mix and match to
the opportunities they encounter.
All such sales reps are covered by a signed contract
spelling out expectations on both sides, including the sales commission
structure. Except for expenses negotiated on a case-by-case basis, sales reps
earn their income through their commissions instead of a salary.
Although we make our facilities and resources
available, sales reps usually prefer to work out of their home (after gaining
the necessary experience). Although we often support sales presentations, the
sales rep usually maintains control of the sales process until the first order
is placed.
