Worker Type - Intern
Interns or apprentices typically do not have the
experience to work as an employee nor a subcontractor. They are often students,
in which case we encourage the coupling of their internship with their academic
endeavors.
Interns operate like subcontractors in that they
manage their own time and are paid on a fixed-price, fixed-schedule basis
relative to a defined internship project. The fixed-price paid is significantly
less than a subcontractor, more like an honorarium of a hundred dollars.
An internship project does not usually involve a
deliverable to a Bizware client, but rather an in-house, overhead project. This
allows the focus to remain on improving skillsets rather than meeting
deadlines. A typical internship project represents a two-week effort for an
experienced programmer that the intern is expected to complete in under three
months.
Bizware's tools and talent are available, but an
intern is not a trainee in that we do not provide a classroom environment with
lesson plans and an academic structure. Interns have to provide their own
motivation, a drive to learn anything and everything associated with their
project.
Interns become eligible to be considered to become
employees or subcontractors upon the successful completion of their internship
project.
