EggArt - Lee at Chancellorsville

by Maria Radnoti

Painting on an ostrich egg.

General Robert E. Lee cemented his reputation among Confederates at Chancellorsville. Outnumbered and outmaneuvered with the Union troops poised to attack, he reduced his forces even further by sending Stonewall Jackson to swing around the enemy. Lee was betting on the arrogance of those in a superior position to underestimate him.

Ms. Radnoti shows the result a few days later, a humble man on horseback, the champion of the underdog.
