The
A Word for
Party/Event Planners page on the MegaChess website presents some of
the benefits of a large chess set for the people and organizations who plan
parties and events like corporate meetings, product rollouts, sales
conferences, etc. We have a need for a marketeer to present MegaChess to those
managers.
Note that the above page also addresses the folks who
rent party equipment to such events. This opening does not cover marketing to
them since they are largely a reactive market -- they respond to what event
planners request, they don't make the market.
The ideal applicant would come with an understanding
of the business of party and event planning as a business (not just how to
throw a party).
Our marketing process will begin by defining the
market segment, what membership groups they belong to, the magazines they read,
the trade shows they attend, the major companies and organizations that shape
them, the websites they frequent, etc. We have some of that information
already.
Next, this applicant would sharpen the value statement
to this market segment, and devise a marketing plan to convey the value
statement. This can include mass mailing, telemarketing, magazine ads, trade
show participation, trade journal articles, resale relationship building, PR
submittals -- whatever is most appropriate for the decision makers.
This applicant may execute elements of the marketing
plan or they may be tasked out to specialists. Key is that this applicant has a
passion for chess, the chosen market segment, and becoming the expert at
connecting the two.
We see this as several person days of work of initial
analysis & reporting, planning, and market development. Once a market
relationship has been established, maintenance would require about an hour or
two per day.
